Recipient Org: Description Mustard Seed Autism Trust (MSAT) is a registered charity established in September 2011 offering free, professional service to families with children on the autism spectrum. MSAT work in family homes or at a local venue (Frimhurst Family House) to develop physical, social, communication and emotional skills for children with autism. This is done through 1-1 work, courses for small groups of children, therapeutic intervention and parent training; all delivered by occupational therapists and a specialist autism teacher. MSAT have a team of volunteers who complete a comprehensive training programme and support both the groups and 1-1 work. MSAT take referrals from families with children aged 3-11 with a diagnosis of autism, living within ten miles of Farnborough, Hampshire. MSAT aim to work with 100 families per year. After an initial assessment interventions based on the needs of the family are offered. From September 2018 - August 2019 MSAT will provide: • the six week Empowering Parents Course three times a year for 30 families in total • occupational therapy (Super Sensory Kids) for 90 children with autism • a six week anxiety course (The Chill Out Zone) for 27 children • a six week communication course (The Ready Steady Go group) for 6 children • support in the home for 12 children • 20 week block of Lego Therapy for 6 children • siblings support groups (The Funtastic Fun Club) for 30 children • a six week social skills group (The Friendship Zone) for 15 children • parent workshops on specific topics for 20 families per year • a six week course (Girl Power!) specifically for junior aged girls with autism – 9 girls each year • daily living skills group for 9 young people per year MSAT employs two full-time and one part-time staff members and has 7 trustees. There are 16 volunteers involved in the charity.
