Recipient Org: Description | Prospero Theatre CIC, limited by guarantee, was set up in May 2015 with the aim of "using the arts as a developmental tool to enable young people with special needs and adults with disabilities to gain life skills and to experience arts and culture. The founder of Prospero was previously Artistic Director at the Arc. The organisation developed out of programmes which were previously offered by The Arc, a charity working with young people and with people with disabilities. The Arc was funded by the Caterham Barracks Community Trust, however in early 2015 the Trust was unable to continue funding arts activities. Prospero aims to take on board participant’s ideas, aims and ambitions, and also seeks to raise the profile of inclusive arts. As well as work in schools, Prospero runs Friday Club, a mixed arts day for adults with disabilities, and a Monday inclusive group. Since 2016 Prospero has been delivering mindfulness sessions and Mind Fitness. The CIC is managed by 6 Directors, and is supported by 6 volunteers. All employment is on a sessional basis. |
