Recipient Org: Description | Parity for Disability (PfD) is based in Farnborough in Hampshire. It is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee which was originally founded by parents in 1953 to address the lack of provision for their children who had cerebral palsy and related disabilities. The aim is to fill the gap in services for people with multiple disabilities in Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire. The charity runs three day services for adults, two in Surrey (Camberley and Salisbury Grove in Mytchett), and one in Hampshire (Farnborough). Services are tailored to clients' individual needs, enabling them to access academic, social, living, and recreational activities, as well as regular physiotherapy, and speech and communication therapy, and music therapy. Qualified health professionals provide vital input not available on the NHS. Each person who attends is supported on a 1-1 basis in activities and on frequent trips out. The charity also provides music therapy both on-site and off-site. In addition, PfD runs Easter and summer Teenagers' Activity Schemes for teens with multiple disabilities, during the holidays. |
