Recipient Org: Description Holy Cross Hospital is a registered charity that specialises in the treatment of people with severe disability. The hospital is home to 40 profoundly disabled patients who are highly dependent and need very skilled medical care and treatment. We provide support to outpatients as well, in the last twelve months over 500 people have accessed our services for hydrotherapy and physiotherapy and we have provided over 7000individual appointments . Holy Cross places great importance on providing a homely and welcoming environment for patients and their families and friends (over 160 people regularly visit their loved ones at the hospital each year). Many patients are referred by a NHS Hospital . The length of time patients spend at Holy Cross varies greatly — some require the facilities over a long period of time while others come for a period of rehabilitation and may be able to return home. We treat everybody as individuals and provide a caring, home-like environment supporting patients to achieve the best possible quality of life. Holy Cross Hospital has an integrated physiotherapy centre. The centre has a gym and a hydrotherapy pool. Our team of physiotherapists and hydro therapists treat a range of conditions and aim to restore mobility and independence to patients staying with us and the facilities are also used by the local community. We have a social club for people who have had a stroke. We provide a range of activities, such as art, live music, quizzes, gardening, cooking, and outings such as trips to the cinema or the seaside, so that new abilities, strengths and talents can be discovered or rediscovered. We place a strong emphasis on offering everyday activities, which are meaningful and fun. Holy Cross is not just a hospital - it is also a home and a community where everyone has an important role to play and we all support each other. • We help people to live their lives with dignity and reduce as far as possible the burden of disability • We welcome the full circle of people touched by disability for healing and growth • We care responsibly and creatively for the whole person in the light of the best developments in health care • We encourage and support each other to develop our skills and apply them in all our work.
