Recipient Org: Description Community Debt Advice (CDA) was established in 2007 and is based in Redhill. It provides a free, professional, client-centred and face-to-face money advice service. CDA reaches out and helps people with money problems in the local community of Redhill, Reigate and Merstham. People who are particularly supported include those on benefits, low incomes and/or with health difficulties. CDA aims to build good working relationships with relevant local statutory and voluntary organisations to the benefit of CDA’s clients. CDA operates under the umbrella organisation Community Money Advice, and is also a member of Advice UK. The Citizen’s Advice Bureau also provide support to CDA in complex cases. CDA is not a charity but is an initiative of Reigate and Redhill Community Church, which operates under the name of Christ Central and which is a registered charity governed by 7 Trustees. Community Debt Advice has offered its services for the last 11 years and currently more than 550 members of the public have been assisted with their debt situations. CDA now includes advisors and administrative assistance from 3 other churches. CDA is funded by the local church community and is managed by 3 people. It is now well established and has won both local and County Council awards. The project’s vision is to release people in the local community from the burden of debt, and inspiration and values are derived from the Christian faith. These values, shared by many people of other faiths and of no religious faith, provide the basis of the work with families and individuals within the local community. Clients, regardless of their backgrounds or circumstances, have access to what they need.
