Recipient Org: Description The Be Me Project (BMP) was started in 2017. The objects of the CIO are: 1) To advance young people in life through projects and activities and advance social, moral, cultural and spiritual education of the public, through courses, classes, activities, advice and guidance so as to develop their skills, capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as mature and responsible individuals. 2) To advance the Christian faith for the benefit of the public through courses, classes and activities. The founder is a chaplain at a school in Dorking and very often supports girls who have very low self-worth. Many have been brought up in chaotic families. Most struggle academically and many are from the most deprived areas of the town. Many suffer from anxiety, believe they are worthless, and are involved with underage sex, sexting, smoking, drinking alcohol, taking drugs, and shoplifting, displaying poor anger management, abusing others, and allowing themselves to be abused. There was no alternative program available in the area that could help them, the ‘She Is’ course that aims to restore self-esteem and to help woman and girls make better life choices. BMP is based in Dorking. It is a recently registered CIO and is overseen by 4 Trustees. To date, the courses have been run by 3 part time volunteers.
