Poverty Proofing (360G-CheshireCF-A494186)

Woodchurch High School Church of England Academy is an 11-16 comprehensive school, set in an area of high social deprivation. The project is aimed at removing barriers to learning and success, through poverty-proofing the 20% of children 'above' those identified as Pupil Premium, for whom the school already receives funding. It will provide a range of activities, including subject master classes in English and Mathematics, a Saturday College, music tuition, craft and social clubs and an 'Activ8' summer holiday club. These activities will re-engage pupils in learning and activities within the school environment and seek to eliminate the unintentional stigmatising of children living in poverty, who are not able to access the full range of opportunities that promote a full, balanced and broad education. A grant will pay for staffing, materials and resources, and food.
