Recipient Org: Description We aim to meet the needs of adults over the age of 18 who have learning difficulties, by providing facilities for improving literacy and numeracy, for recreation and leisure time occupation, in the interest of social welfare and with the object of improving their conditions and experiences of life. We achieve our aim by offering as wide a variety of projects and experiences as we possible can, and by using these as stimuli to further work such as reading, writing, drama, discussion and art work. Through this method, we find we are able to avoid the barriers to learning which often exist for our client group. Examples of past projects include yoga, dance, pantomime, music, excursions, puppet-making, paper-craft, clay modelling, hawking on Dartmoor, tennis for the disabled, computing, poetry and cookery. (We have 3 project leaders who work with our members, 2 of those leders are on the management committee). We meet every Friday morning for 3 hours, Our sessions are free to members and refreshments are included.
