We also welcome the frail elderly who are living on their own.Our aim is to encourage everyone to live well with their condition , through taking part in activities , peer support, talking together as well as "tea and home made cake ". This enables all to be supported and socialise. We hope this will develop new interests and new social networks. The Cafe offers signposting to other services and activities, as well as support by inviting to the meetings, or liaising with other professional agencies eg Alzheimers Society , Mental Health Team. Carers organisation. We are able to offer the services of a Complementary Therapist who gives gentle neck and hand massage. Recent activities have included flower arranging, reminiscence activity with the local museum, board games ,seated group games with balloons and beanbags and craft activities which enable them to take home something that they have made. . We incorporate quizzes, word and number puzzles to encourage cognitive stimulation and sequencing skills. A secondary function has been to encourage and support the development of Memory Cafes in the surrounding villages. This has increased the number of places in a month that some of our clients are able to access as well as making the features of a Memory Cafe more local to the residents of a village.
