Recipient Org: Description Children and Families in Grief (CFG) is a registered bereavement charity offering counselling and support to children, young people and their families who have experienced the death of a significant person and who live in South Devon. We have a team of specialist sessional and volunteer therapists who work with families via home visits and attendance at a bereavement workshop day with other bereaved families. Families receive 4 home visits by 2 of our therapists and they also come to a bereavement workshop day with a group of between 10 and 14 other bereaved families. We work with the whole family and at the workshop day, the children, teenagers and adults also get divided into groups according to their different age groups to help them work through their grief with peers. All our therapy is age appropriate and we use creative and play activity with the children. Families are then invited to stay in touch with us through our regular social events that we hold at least twice per year as well as us always being available on the end of the phone for on going support as the months and years go by following having had therapy with us. We also run bereavement groups in schools and colleges across South Devon. Our aim at CFG is to help families to work through their grief in a positive and healthy way to relieve the isolation so often felt so that they can move forwards in their lives whilst taking the memory of their special person with them.
