Recipient Org: Description South Hams Community and Voluntary Services (SHCVS) helps local voluntary and community groups to flourish. We are a support and development organisation, promoting and encouraging local voluntary activity. We support groups in sharing knowledge and expertise, communities to find and deliver their own solutions and individuals to access volunteering opportunities. We work in partnership with Devon Voluntary Action (DEVA) which is a consortium of CVS in Devon. We advise organisations on setting up as a constituted group, provide information on funding and policies and procedures, host forums and organise training to meet community need. We hold outreach events promoting our services and volunteering. We provide an on-line data base for organisations to use to advertise their volunteering opportunities and for individuals to access. We provide 1-1 support for individuals who want to access volunteering and need additional support to make this possible. This might include working with organisations to create accessible opportunities and put in place any measures needed to support the volunteer. We support and represent the voluntary and community sector in the district of South Hams and act as a point of contact with local government and other agencies.
