Recipient Org: Description Lads Need Dads is unique. It is the only organisation of its kind in the UK and to our knowledge even globally, that provides, an 18-month long term, early intervention group-work Programme for boys age 11-15 with absent fathers. Our Mission is: ‘To equip and empower boys with absent fathers or limited access to a male role model, to become motivated, responsible, capable, resilient and emotionally competent to PREVENT them from becoming at risk of under achieving at school, offending, exclusion or dropping out of education.’ It does this by providing: • A male-led group personal development Mentoring Programme • Bush-craft survival training and outdoor activities • Practical life-skills training • Community Volunteering opportunities • Leadership and Peer mentoring Once boys have graduated from the Programme, they become Ambassadors which means they can represent LND in their communities and assist as peer mentors on our programmes and access monthly open-ended support, until they no longer require it. Our core services include an 18-month early intervention group-work programme, called Equip, Engage and Inspire incorporating personal development, outdoor activities, practical life-skill training, community volunteering, peer mentoring and leadership opportunities. Once completed, boys become Ambassadors and can engage in fundraising activities and ambassador opportunities and attend an open-ended well-being group to continue accessing mentor and peer support.
