Recipient Org: Description | We provide play and recreational opportunities for children with additional needs and disabilities. We also offer short break care for the children and young adults and support for their families. At PARC we believe that every child has a right to play, regardless of their individual needs or abilities. We currently support around 230 children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND CYPs) as well as their families within the Essex area. There is no formal referral process and the children do not need a formal diagnosis before accessing our services. Our age range is from birth up until the age of 25 years. To date we have not turned a child away due to the complexity of their need- instead we will ensure that our staff undergo training to be able to deal with the need. We also practice a holistic approach and support the whole of the family, rather than just the child or young adult. We recognise that all of the family are affected, and as such offer help, advice and support as well as respite care to ensure to support is provided. Our charity shop is so much more than just a store as it also provides a safe place for young people to learn skills and get experience of a place of work. We offer volunteer opportunities at our store and a mentor will oversee their progress. |
