Recipient Org: Description 4 Youth has been open for 20 years providing a safe place off the streets for young people aged 11-17 years and children aged 7-10years. A place they can meet friends and make new ones. It is a place where every individual can reach their full potential by offering them the opportunity to develop new skills through our varied workshops and activities. We have an active Youth Forum who meet regularly and interact with club members to plan new activities, they also plan fund raising events. Planned workshops are Circus Training where they learn different skills e.g. Tight Rope , Uni- Cycle ,Plate Spinning Juggling and many more. At the last session they put on a display showing the skills they have learnt designing a programme and inviting parents. Another workshop in our centre is 'Heartstart Life Saving' provided by our local First Responders. where our members learnt CPR and how to access the nearest defibulator and how to assist in the use of it. We also have cooking sessions in the centre , Pool, Table tennis, Arts.& Crafts In our small garden they are able to play ball games skipping enjoying time together in the outdoors . We were invited to visit to our local Fire Station . who a talk on fire safety in the home. We were then invited to visit the afternoon at the local fire station gave our members an idea of the sort of calls they have to attend in a days work and they were allowed to sit in the Fire Engine which they enjoyed. and many were interested in joining the fire service. Another activity has been 6 sessions to ' Bush Craft' held on Mersea Island. This activity introduced them to new challenges working together as a team respecting others strengths and weaknesses broadening their horizons and life skills to take forward into adulthood giving them confidence and self worth. Our latest workshop is making Eco Bricks made from plastic bottles filling them with unrecyclable plastic material . We have made our first small stool for our garden area. This is teaching our members to care for the environment. This workshop was introduced by a young member who gave two presentations to other members. which enthused them to be involved in this project. We have had our local wildlife animal sanctuary give a talk on the work they do to help the sick animals We are arranging a visit to a sanctuary Again this year we will be inviting some senior members from our community during the school holidays to a tea party. Our members will design invitations, cook cakes and prepare sandwiches. We will again be taking our members to 'Stubbers' an Outdoor Activity Centre and Clay Pigeon Shooting, through our affiliation with Essex Boys & Girls Clubs. 4 youth has been very involved with local events over the years e.g. local Carnival,' The Town Horticultural Show', 'The Christmas Tree Festival', Helping 'Brightlingseas Rotary Club' with their Santas Sleigh collecting donations also' Brightlingseas Late Night Christmas Shopping' .providing refreshments and running a raffle. This we feel gives them a sense of belonging to their community. We encourage our members to enter into local events and activities this we feel helps them to feel part of their community. Our latest project we are hoping to help at is a project run by a local lady along with Brightlngsea Town Council who are supporting this as part of their 'Green Lung Iniitiative ' to plant a native wildflower meadow.. They have asked if our members would like to help
