Recipient Org: Description The London Bus Theatre Company aims to improve the quality of life for young people in Essex by reducing crime and increasing confidence, self-esteem, employability and life skills through a range of drama and film making activities. The London Bus Theatre Company is one of the leading TIE groups in the UK and has a nationally recognised track record. We produced our first critically acclaimed feature film "Angels vs Bullies" from 2009 - 2012 under the Fair Share programme funded by Essex Community Foundation which has since been signed by Cineworld. In 2012 we were awarded £320,000 by The Big Lottery, The Arts Council and Esmee Fairbairn Foundation for a three year film making and drama project with 250 young people on Canvey Island. We provided film screenings, drama clubs, Arts Awards and workshops in schools on a range of issues such as bullying, drugs awareness, antisocial behaviour and job interview techniques. We are currently working on a term drama and film project in Harwich with 300 local young people funded by The OPCC, The Arts Council and Essex Community Foundation. The National Lottery Community Fund have approached us with a view to extending our work into Jaywick and Clacton on a long term project from 2020 - 2023. We are also carrying on our work in schools in South Essex.
