Recipient Org: Description Havens was established in 1983 & is the only charity in the country to provide end of life care for people of all ages. We are wholly dedicated to providing care & support for anyone who has a chronic, life limiting or terminal condition, or is suffering from any disability or disease where the support of a hospice can improve the quality of a person’s quality of life. We now have three hospice services: Fair Havens for adults, the J’s Hospice for young adults up to the age of 40 years, operating across the whole of Essex & Little Havens for children up to the age 19 years, as well as hospice services delivered in the home for all ages. Annually, we provided tailored nursing care, short breaks, day care, emergency and end-of-life care for over 200 children & 1,000 adults. Havens Hospices' mission is to ensure everyone affected by a life-limiting disease & those who are important to them receive the hospice care they need to make every day count. We believe hospice care should be accessible to whoever needs it, when they need it. The care we provide is available to all free of charge, regardless of age, background, nationality & faith. Our care is unique to each person's needs: it is centred on their physical, emotional, psychological, social & spiritual health and well-being, and includes the people who are important to them. Wherever possible, we provide care in the place each person wants to be looked after and, when the time comes, where they want to die; and we continue to support the people who are important to them, as they go through bereavement.
