Recipient Org: Description The objects of the CIO:- 1. To relieve unemployment for the benefit of the public in Essex, by the provision of opportunities for volunteering, training and work experience to increase their employability; and 2. To relieve financial hardship by the provision of courses in money management and debt counselling. We use a wood recycling project to provide volunteering opportunities to help those marginalised people access the job market and vocational training in addition to training and counselling in debt management. We provide help with interviews and CVs and job application forms and those who need help with literacy. This funding will help us deliver our service and contribute to the reduction in crime disorder and help those with mental health issues to gain more control of their lives. The project is paid to collect waste wood from building sites along the Thames corridor. This wood is then sold as is from the site or turned into firewood or made into wooden products that are sold to the public. This saves the wood from going to landfill and people’s lives are transformed by getting training and working opportunities. The business model is proven as it is being implemented in 30 projects all over the UK. There is not one in South Essex. Ours is slightly different as we provide more services to clients and we are a charity. We have commissioned a 3 minute video of our work which can be view at:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9d3g-LZFgg
