Recipient Org: Description Aims: To provide services offering learning and recreational opportunities to children and young people with a learning disability. To provide lifelong learning, social opportunities and community access to people aged 19+ who have a learning disability and associated additional needs. To promote a healthy, independent lifestyle to people with a learning disability and to signpost/refer to, and liaise with, health and social care agencies as appropriate. To provide support to members and their families about different aspects of living with learning disabilities, and to develop new services and courses in response to identified needs. To promote the needs and abilities of people with a learning disability through awareness campaigns and by publicising the activities and achievements of service users. Services: Family Support Worker helps with issues including social care funding and provision, benefits and housing. The Outreach Academy: wide range of structured learning courses, from Functional skills to Yoga, to help students develop and maintain life, work and social skills. Open five days a week, fifty weeks a year, to ensure it provides a regular and constant service. Active in the community and environment (ACE): volunteering in community horticulture and hospitality projects. Working out: long-term, fully supported, work experience placements. Social clubs: Gateway Juniors for 16 to 25 year olds; and Gateway Club for members over 19. These clubs provide a range of workshops and themed evenings, including dance, drama, sport and art, and opportunities to enjoy facilities in the community, including theatre trips, dining out and bowling.
