Recipient Org: Description | The Society is established for the public benefit in the geographic area of Tamworth and its surrounding district and hinterland in the counties of Staffordshire and Warwickshire, in England (“the area of benefit”). AIMS The Society is established for the public benefit: 1. To preserve, promote, and celebrate the heritage and history of the area of benefit. 2. To protect and improve the environment in the area of benefit. 3. To advance civic pride and engagement in the area of benefit. The Society has no political party affiliation or allegiance. OBJECTIVES In pursuance of its Aims, but not otherwise, the Society shall: 1. Secure the preservation, protection, conservation and enhancement of buildings and features of historic or significant public interest. 2. Advise whether proposed developments are appropriate, having regard to the existing built and natural environment. 3. Encourage high standards and excellence in town planning; architectural design and quality; building works; and materials. 4. Promote a clean, safe, well-maintained, attractive environment. 5. Support the protection of the natural environment and associated flora and fauna. 6. Educate and inform and provide advice to the public about the heritage, history, natural history, geography and architecture of the area of benefit. 7. Promote and celebrate the character, historical identity and tourism potential of the area of benefit. 8. Provide a forum on planning, environmental and heritage issues of concern within the community. 9. Encourage and support civic and community events, and promote public participation. |
