Recipient Org: Description | Narthex aims to encourage community cohesion by supporting people in need and facing crisis, The work of Narthex was established by St. John’s Anglican Church in 1998 to serve the Sparkhill, Sparkbrook and Springfield areas of Birmingham and today continues to provide vital community-based support for people affected by poverty and deprivation. The area has many deep-rooted deprivation issues and Narthex is at the centre of providing answers that improve the quality of people’s lives. We aim to alleviate the effects of acute financial crisis and improve quality of life through services which offer crisis intervention, social welfare, recreation and personal development. Current services are wide ranging including: one stop shop, foodbank & destitution support, youth clubs, refugee resource centre, parish nurse, welcome cafe, men's drop-in, job club and support for victims of abuse. |
