Recipient Org: Description Carers Support Service manages Warwickshire Young Carers Project (WYCP), which offers support to over 1,700 Young Carers annually between the ages of 6-25, many of whom care for a relative within their family who have a long-term illness, physical disability, mental ill health and substance abuse. This is often to the detriment of their education, career prospects and social opportunities . We provide information, support groups, support in education, training opportunities and 1:1 attention to ensure that Young Carers are well informed, supported and healthy, and to help to prevent them from taking on inappropriate caring responsibilities. We provide breaks, social events, and leisure and education opportunities to give Young Carers time away from their caring responsibilities, to build friendships and spend time with staff who understand their situation and will listen and help. Our projects, activities and support reflect the different age/developmental needs of our Young Carers.
