Recipient Org: Description Birmingham Community Association (BCA) is a registered charity that provides a range of social and welfare activities for the African and Caribbean community. We are an established organisation that have been going for the last 50. BCA was formed in 1966 to meet the needs of the then growing African Caribbean communities settling in the city. Initially the focus was on providing a social framework of support for the then new communities with services including affordable out off school care; Easter and Summer play schemes; Day and respite care services for African Caribbean elders; mental health and counselling services and a members social club. BCA has continued to provide these services for the young, old and for the deprived communities of Small Heath, recognising the demographic changes our services are now although still predominantly African and Caribbean also provide for the South Asian community. We have a membership of 150 who support our social activities and projects; we are one of the few African Caribbean led organisations left in the city. BCA's vision is to be a vibrant and well developed/ governed organisation providing leisure, social, educational and health activities to the local community working in partnership with the local communities to provide a healthy environment for all. To support the long term development of the organisation BCA has developed a trading arm, BCA Ltd which is managed by the members and provides catering, room hire and social activities all the proceeds are then reinvested into BCA charitable activities
