Recipient Org: Description | Baby Lifeline is a national charity supporting the care of pregnant women and new-born babies. It raises funds to purchase much needed maternity equipment, and is one of the leading providers of training for maternity healthcare professionals. Some specific research to improve care is also carried out. Baby Lifeline has already raised over £10 million to purchase vital equipment for maternity and special care baby units. The need for the charity's work is demonstrated by the fact that, despite advances in medical care and science, 1 in 154 babies are still born or die within 7 days of birth (ONS 2016). |
