Recipient Org: Description Our constitution states " play and recreation facilities and other leisure time occupation for children in and around Oxford". We now work with 8 -13 year olds most of whom come from Blackbird Leys and Greater Leys. We also have a young leader programme for volunteers from year 10. We run after school from 3.15 - 5.30 p.m. and during half term, and Easter and 4 weeks of the summer holidays from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. with additional hours possible from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. We believe that play is an important part of childhood. One of the 8 Play Principles we work to states:"children and young people have a deep, natural need to play. Play is essential for the health of individuals and communities." The children and young people have lots of choices as to how to spend their time at BLAP. Most spend a lot of time outside on the various pieces of equipment such as the in-ground trampoline, the zip wire, the hanging bars , the sandpit and much more. Many play imaginative games. They also enjoy arts and crafts, cooking, gardening, reading, dance, keep fit, table tennis, pool, Lego and other games
