The M Word / 11-16yrs Street Dance (360G-OCF-A503724)

£4,000
Recipient Organization

According to the 2015 Index of Multiple Deprivation, 10 of Oxford's 83 neighbourhood areas ('Super Output Areas') are among the 20% most deprived areas in England. These areas, which are in Blackbird Leys, Rose Hill and Barton areas of the city, experience multiple levels of deprivation – low skills, low incomes and relatively high levels of crime. Funding will contribute to the long-term sustainability of this project and secure delivery of weekly dance sessions (11-16yrs) in Blackbird Leys for another academic year. It will also enable this project to expand to include weekly sessions in Wood Farm, as well as offer taster sessions in local secondary schools as a way to promote the project. This will allow us to reach more vulnerable young people with mental health issues because the programme increases their access to exercise. The full break down of the grant is listed later. However, the grant will cover, a lead street dance tutor and youth dance leaders, project management cost (liaising with external partners, mentoring youth dance leaders and evaluating the project), marketing costs & space hire.
