Recipient Org: Description The objectives of the Leys CDI are to promote any charitable purposes for the benefit of the community of the Leys, in order to relieve poverty and sickness, and to provide facilities in the interest of social welfare with the aim to improve the conditions of life of the community. We currently run two projects: Youth Project: Youth-led social and educational activities designed to support, encourage, and inspire young people aged 9 to 19. Each project is designed to give young people a safe space where they can make friends, take part in sport and activities and discuss the issues that matter to them. Current projects include Girls and Young Women’s Group, Music Group, Gaming Night, Outreach in the community, Outreach in schools, Friday Drop in group, Homework Club and Holiday Projects. Clockhouse Project: Supporting local over-50s to make good things happen in their community. The activities are chosen, developed, and often delivered by older people themselves so they can design the project around their needs. Currently the Clockhouse Project delivers the following weekly programme: Monday Social Get Together with special guests / talks. Zumba Gold, Yoga, Singing for Fun, Craft Group, online social and quizzes, Phoenix Rising Group, Gardening and Bingo. Clockhouse members suggest special events which we deliver where possible, such as First Aid Training, Genealogy Talks and day trips.
