Island House: Street Dance Project (360G-PeoplesHealthTrust-2016_358)

£49,009

This two-year project provided street dance sessions for young people aged 4-18, from a diverse range of ethnic groups, living in Tower Hamlets, London. The project followed a successful one-year pilot and enabled young people to create their own dance choreography supported by qualified tutors. They also organised day trips, participated in tournaments and put on public performances. The young people led, planned and participated in every aspect of the project. Through working together collaboratively, building bridges and raising self-esteem, the project strengthened community cohesion in a diverse, inner-city area.
