Recipient Org: Description | The aim of the Malcolm X Elders group is to provide a safe, stimulating and fun environment for older people to help reduce social isolation and loneliness while engaging people in a range of activities thereby improving their general quality of life. Activities include a lunch club, exercise, sing along, day trips, drama, sewing, art and crafts, raffles and funds raising. These activities are held every Monday at the Malcolm X Centre on City Road in Bristol. On average 50 people attend every Monday to socialise and participate in the many activities on offer. Malcolm X Elders is a valued social care group in that it provides a safe space for older BME people to meet friends and acquaintances, and to get valuable information on health, pensions, and benefits. For many it is the only place their can get help and support. |
