Recipient Org: Description For over 25 years Southern Brooks have been working in Patchway and Filton alongside partners and people in the community. As a community anchor organisation and a member of Locality we believe that local co-ordinated community action is the best way to build strong, sustainable communities powered by people; that helps them achieve their potential as well as meeting their needs. We focus our work on those who are socially isolated, vulnerable young people and families in Patchway, which is in the top 20% Indices of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) where 1 in 5 children live in poverty. Our vision is to create strong communities powered by people. We bring people together to build strong communities. Using community development principles we work with people who all vulnerable - our priorities are reducing isolation, improving mental health, improving skills and reducing poverty. Our services include running centre based and detached youth work, learning and training, volunteering opportunities and brokerage, community development, dementia awareness, helping people improve their health and wellbeing through health champions and wellbeing programmes, employment and IT support, supporting new communities and running a community cafe as a social hub. healthy lives.
