Recipient Org: Description | Bristol Area Stroke Foundation supports people affected by stroke in Bristol and South Gloucestershire. We offer an integrated approach to the recovery journey, helping people to rebuild their lives after stroke. BASF steps in to provide information, assistance and support when a stroke survivor leaves hospital and is back at home. ‚ Emotional and psychological support “ counselling and short courses for stroke affected people and carers/spouses to come to terms with the effects of their stroke. ‚ Peer support “ weekly support groups offering social, emotional, and motivational support, and monthly Stroke Cafs providing information and company for carers as well ‚ Rehabilitation support “ Next Steps physiotherapy-led programme, and Conversation Group for people with aphasia ‚ Information - further support, lifestyle advice and support, activities, and services BASF is a small charity based in south Bristol. Our services are managed by a small team of part-time staff supported by over thirty volunteers, many of whom have experience of stroke either personally or with a relative or friend. We work in partnership with statutory and acute services, but we rely on fundraising to maintain our services. |
