Recipient Org: Description | North Bristol Advice Centre (NBAC) is an independent charity that has been delivering advice, representation and community services in deprived areas across North Bristol and South Gloucestershire for over 30 years. Our aim is to promote social justice and combat poverty by providing free and independent advice and support that enables people to develop skills, improve well-being and make positive changes in their lives and communities. We provide the following services: - Specialist welfare benefits and debt advice - Complex casework including representation at tribunal - MoneySmart financial inclusion project including one-to-one money mentoring, community workshops and support to help people get online - A community training hub hosting work clubs and training courses - Home visiting service for older people to help them stay independent and combat social isolation. - Community Navigators Bristol, leading on delivery of the service in North Bristol, supporting people over 50 to connect with their community to combat loneliness. - Connect Lockleaze project, providing learning and training for local people. In January 2014 we set up a social enterprise, Buzz Lockleaze. They run an employability project, enterprise hub and community food shop and cafe. |
