Recipient Org: Description | Unseen was established in 2008. Our mission is to work towards a world without slavery. We work in three main ways: 1. Supporting survivors and potential victims of slavery: To date, we’ve supported over 135 female survivors at our women’s safe-house and in 2016 we also opened a 24-hour safe-house for male survivors. Additionally, we have worked with over 50 other survivors, men and women, through our RIO service, assisting people to reintegrate into back society and continue their recovery once they are living in local communities across the South West. 2. Equipping stakeholders: We deliver training to frontline personnel, such as the police and health workers, so they have the confidence and knowledge to identify victims. We run the UK’s National Modern Slavery Helpline, which offers advice and support to victims, the public, frontline professionals and businesses. 3. Influencing systemic change: We believe the only way to tackle slavery is through collaborative working. We help shape policy by working with local authorities, government agencies, NGOs, businesses and individuals to share information and create joined-up responses to trafficking, not only in the UK but also worldwide. |
