Recipient Org: Description | Camerton Community Hall replaced the Miners Welfare Centre with the aim of improving the quality of life through providing recreational and educational facilities for the residents of Camerton and surrounding neighbourhood. Now the village school is virtually closed; it is the only public accessible space in the community and as such a vital community asset! However this time last year it too was in danger of closing; a new and active committee have taken over and the hall is once again playing host to numerous events. The Hall provides a venue for private hire, hosting such events as: christening, birthday, wedding celebrations and wakes, together with dance, yoga and Zumba classes. Community groups such as Brownies & Camerton History Group use it for meetings & events. Camerton Community Hall Committee have organised 5 community events so far this year, with a further 4/5 planned. These have included an Easter Fun Day, Summer Fete & Family Halloween Party and a series of Winter Talks. A pop-up restaurant is also being planned. All these events have been well supported by the community, who are delighted to see the hall is again being a hub for the community and surrounding area. |
