Recipient Org: Description A registered charity, Bristol Museums Development Trust (BMDT) raises funds to support the work of Bristol Museums and Bristol Archives. This encompasses the five museums of Bristol Museum & Art Gallery, M Shed, Blaise Castle House Museum, The Georgian House Museum, The Red Lodge Museum, as well as Bristol Archives and Kings Weston Roman Villa. Unrestricted funds raised from visitors are channelled into designated funds, such as the Participation Fund which enables museum collections to be shared with those who do not traditionally visit museums, the Learning Fund which enables schools from deprived areas to attend education workshops, the Collections Fund which helps reveal more of the treasures in the collections through conservation and display, and the Buildings Fund which contributes towards the redecoration of our three historic houses. BMDT also secures funds for specific collections and exhibitions, such as for the current Pliosaurus exhibition, in order to undertake scientific research, specimen conservation and display, and recruit and train volunteers to engage with visitors.
