Recipient Org: Description We are Vision North Somerset providing a high quality service to visually impaired people living in North Somerset. We aim to deliver emotional and practical support from one source to improve the quality of life for local visually impaired members of our community. Our team of outstanding volunteers help visually impaired people by providing activities and support to increase independence, reduce poverty and offer opportunities to promote new friendships and enable community participation. Organised voluntary activities help us achieve our aims through: social/swimming clubs to increase fitness and reduce isolation, early intervention for timely support to promote independence, IT training to help keep people connected, home visiting for companionship, friendship and to read correspondence, benefit entitlement support to reduce poverty and sighted guides to ease access into our local community. We also provide good quality volunteer opportunities to local community members with excellent training and supervision to help develop exiting skills, apply new learning and improve employment prospects.
