Recipient Org: Description On Your Bike (Recycle) Ltd is a local charity that delivers training and work placements for vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals, giving them the skills and confidence to access pathways to employment in Taunton and the surrounding area. It achieves this by recycling unwanted bikes and selling them back into the local community: a process delivered by our trainees (supported by our professional mechanics) in work placements which combine training in bike mechanics, retail, office administration and premises management experience. Figures from the year to March 2017 saw 50 people benefit from one of our work placements. This equates to nearly 6,000 hours invested in support and training for those volunteers and beneficiaries.Thirteen of those (26%) entered paid employment and six (12%) left to pursue further training/volunteering. Eight (16%) left with no ongoing plan, two (4%) left without informing us of their intentions. Twenty-one (42%) continued their placement with us.
