Recipient Org: Description We provide a free bereavement support service throughout Somerset for adults, young people and children. This includes the provision of literature, signposting, face to face support, and groups. We also offer occasional telephone support and this is the service we wish to expand. There is well documented evidence to show that bereavement support can help prevent serious health problems such as depression, isolation, the inability to attend work or school and the ability to engage in the community. We have been operating in Somerset for over 30 years and the demand for our services has grown steadily over time. We serve a rural community which means volunteers often have to travel considerable distances to see clients and as our reputation and client load has grown we realise we have to change the way we operate.
