Recipient Org: Description | The Uckfield Volunteer Centre’s (UVC) primary function is matching individuals and groups interested in volunteering with appropriate opportunities in the local community. We provide the community with free services including community advice and support; community health; mediation; community support; and community/business lunches & trainings. We work with 200 local organisations. Volunteering has traditionally been for retired or older people and we want to engage with young people and promote volunteering opportunities to this age group, targeting those with mental health issues, NEETS or those needing supportive input and positive role models .We seek to increase participation from young people who might not usually take part in social action, e.g. engage new volunteers. Our end users include a diverse range of people – young and old, able-bodied and disabled. UVC builds the capacity of the sector, enabling people and organisations to do things for themselves. |
