Public Engagement Provision. (360G-Wellcome-104943_Z_14_A)

£30,000

Our plan is to increase public understanding of brain function and how normal function can be disrupted (either through deliberate manipulation or through disease processes). We believe that demystifying the brain is important, so that individuals can make more informed choices about brain stimulation actvities, and so that mental health disorders are destigmatised. Each of our demonstrator cases in the work programme (epilepsy, schizophrenia, drug manipulation, electrical brain stimulation and brain training) already generates considerable public interest. The outputs of our work in these application areas will therefore act as catalysts to open a two-way dialogue. We would like to engage both with school children, and the general adult population, via two distinct mechanisms, building on related experience to date.
