Protege is an innovative one year action research programme that aims to support 20 excluded young people in self-directed learning and creating artwork on their own terms as a means of demonstrating to educators and governments the importance of alternative approaches to learning . The project is intended to channel young people's interests, improve their awareness and raise their aspirations towards FE and / or creative enterprise as well as influencing policy makers and mainstream provision.
