The Art of Learning: Creativity and Executive Functions (360G-phf-31999)

£75,000

This grant will support Creative Scotland, in partnership with Education Scotland and Creativity, Culture and Education, to continue to deliver the Art of Learning programme in five schools in Ayreshire. Originally funded through a Teacher Development Fund pilot in 2016-17, this action research project aims to train and support primary teachers to develop their skills and confidence in using arts based approaches in teaching and learning. It isl testing the hypothesis that an arts rich, creative learning programme can have a positive impact on the development of creativity skills, executive functions of the brain and attainment in children, particularly those living in areas of deprivation. Ultimately, it aims to contribute to closing the attainment gap.
