St Colmcille's Primary School, Armagh - Hall Modernisation
This grant will allow the school to transform a small indoor dining hall into a multi-use activity facility with sports flooring and disabled toilets/changing area which will be suitable for indoor PE activities. The project will allow staff to deliver new PE activities including dance, short-tennis and gymnastics and offer pupils after school activities in uni-hoc and soccer and provide the only community recreational facility in a rural area.
Hart Memorial Primary School - Multi Use Games Area
The grant will allow the school to create a high quality multi-use games area for pupils. This will be suitable for use throughout the school year and will accomodate a variety of sports enabling all 339 pupils to participate, for the first time, in two hours of PE each week. The project will also benefit 3,000 people from other schools and the wider community.
The project is to develop a multi sensory room for disadvantaged children. The money is for multi sensory equipment.
The project will extend the Healthy Living Centre in Ystradgynlais to create a new intergrated childcare centre. It will benefit 310 children and 100 adults. Exhibition of local WW2 memorabilia
This group will use their award to hold a series of events to commemorate the Second World War. An exhibition highlighting local involvement in the War paying particular attention to evacuees, rationing and troops that were stationed locally. There will be a parade by local bands through the town and a VE Day Party in the style of the 1940s.
Banbridge Library Centenary Celebrations
Banbridge Library Centenary Commitee in County Down have been awarded a grant that will allow them to commemorate WW2 by hosting a number of literary competitions involving the local schools, produce two wall hangings for the library created by local school children via a series of craft classes, and a number of talks from local authors who will discuss WW2 issues, these talks will be aimed at both school children and adults.
Magheralin Village 60th Annversary Events
This group will use their award to host a series of activities to mark the end of the Second World War. These activities will include veterans visiting local youth groups and schools, a reminiscence night for those involved on the Home Front and an exhibition displaying uniforms and other material from the period.

A variety of events has been organised including a 1940's cookery demonstration, reminiscence nights with the Home Guard and the B Special Historical Platoon and a 3 day static exhibition of IIWW memorabilia involving local primary and secondary school children. A Festival Day consisting of a children's 1940's period dress competition, face painting and a balloon release will take place in May 2005.
