The project (ASCEND) will deliver employment guidance and training and a counselling service, and provide advice and practical support to homeless young people. The project will be for the benefit of residents of South Oxhey delivered from the ASCEND Centre.

Bereavement support for children and parents 09 Mar 2005

The project will provide a child bereavement service for children aged 7-13 years through one-to-one support by qualified staff and volunteers. These will be non-residential weekend and evening sessions. A small learning element of the project will see three days of education a year on the needs of bereaved children delivered to health and social care professionals.

North West Norfolk Royal British Legion 60th commemorations 24 Mar 2005

The Royal British Legion North West Norfolk branch will use their award to hold a range of activities to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the end of the War. These activities will involve a street party, 1940s style Tea Dance, 1940s Big Band Dance, Parade and a Commemorative service.

The programme of events will include a Service of Thanksgiving and wreath-laying ceremony to be concluded with a 'Hog Roast' and fireworks in the evening. This will be attended by a broad array of people- including veterans from Britain and the United States, alongside the other members of the local community.

A church service will be held which will be followed be a reception for all veterans. The second event will be a parade, followed by a wartime memorabilia exhibition and display. Reunion corners will be set up so that Old Comrades can meet again. Entertainment with a 1940's style will also be provided.

Voices for Hospices 14 Jul 2005

The hospice will use an award to raise awareness of the service and its work amongst young people and to attract younger volunteer helpers. They will hold a 'Voices for Hospices Under 18 Search for a Star' singing competition. The funding will pay for venue hire and administration for the event as well as IT and presentation equipment. The equipment will also be valuable for generating awareness in the future and for fundraising.

Called the Vocal Project, participants work with community volunteers who help them to access training and social events.
