This project will help place a new surface in the car park of the village hall. This will enable the organisation to improve the car park which has become a safety concern for older people and disabled users of the village hall.
The Connections Project 02 Mar 2017
Narberth CP School in Pembrokeshire will use the grant to run fun community focused family sessions during school holidays. This grant for Â£4,850 will fund sessional staff costs, activity materials, waterproofs and wellington boots, mini bus hire, marketing and play equipment.
Parents Together 22 Feb 2017
This project will offer an early intervention service to tackle the impact of poverty and disadvantage in families with children under the age of five through the use of a trusted volunteer who has been through similar experiences. They group will upskill new and existing volunteers to support families with issues such as accessing local services, to needing more intensive parenting support because, for example, they have mental health problems or a disability or are experiencing domestic violence.
Eastham Community Hub 30 Mar 2017
This funding will improve the Eastham Memorial Hall which is no longer able to meet the needs of the local community. The new facility will provide a modern meeting place which is fit for purpose, where people can socialise and host events and activities. Current activities, including parent and toddler groups, reading groups, coffee mornings and fitness classes will continue alongside plans for new events. The project aims to improve peopleâ€™s health and wellbeing by reducing social isolation.
CoB Mentoring and Development 15 Feb 2017
This group will use the funding to provide weekly mentoring support sessions and workshops for disengaged young people living in deprivation. Participants will be offered support, skills and training to engage them into community life.
Creative Communities 28 Mar 2017
This group will support people experiencing mental ill health, learning difficulties and physical difficulties through an Expressive Arts programme. The programme will be delivered in tandem with Integrated Mental Health/Adult/Youth Services who will provide accessible creative opportunities, confidence building workshops, and 1:1 practical and emotional support. Participants will also be able to develop and work in a community garden and sell/exhibit/perform at community events.
The Journey Programme 04 Jan 2017
The funding will be used to run sessions for a group of disengaged young people around themes including image, motivation, and learning from mistakes and successes, along with a three day expedition. The project aims to address issues young people face, including low self-esteem and confidence.
Keeping Well with Sickle Cell Project 01 Feb 2017
A series of healthy workshops will be provided with this funding. The workshops will include training courses, nutrition learning and exercise techniques for people living with the effects of sickle cell and thalassaemia disorder. This will develop a better approach to improve the quality of health and wellbeing for participants.
Day Trips 28 Mar 2017
Pilkington Pensioners Self Help Group in Torfaen will use the grant to take their members on a series of trips to places of interest to reduce social isolation. This grant for Â£3,355 will fund travel and entrance fees.
Community Shelter and Garden Project - Gazebo 15 Feb 2017
This group will use the funding to install a new canopy on school grounds which will be used to deliver new community activities. This will improve how the group supports voluntary organisations and new out of school hours learning initiatives.
Rhiwhiriaeth Community Centre Golden Jubilee 05 Jan 2017
Rhiwhiriaeth Community Centre in Welshpool will use the grant to host a community event to celebrate their 50th anniversary and promote social cohesion in the rural community. This grant for Â£4,600 will part-fund marquee hire, table and chair hire, PA system hire, toilet and generator hire, exhibition and printing costs, artist fees, and insurance.
Brechfa 60+ Trips 2017 21 Jan 2017
Brechfa 60+ Club in Carmarthenshire will use the grant to provide an improved series of activities for up to 40 members at risk of social isolation. This grant for Â£5,000 will part-fund travel, accommodation, and entrance fees.
Wheels for Freedom - Shopmobility development 25 Jan 2017
A promotional campaign and outreach events will be funded to raise awareness of the charityâ€™s shop mobility service. A pilot mentoring scheme for people living with disabilities will also be funded. This will build capacity for the development of the charityâ€™s service.
The 'START Assure' project 22 Mar 2017
This group will use the funding to train volunteers on drop in sessions for asylum seekers. The training will allow them to support individuals and their families when transitioning from the immigration system, helping integrate them into the local community.
Canterbury Advice Service II 14 Feb 2017
This project will support Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic women to understand and access welfare rights and giving them the opportunity to escape or stay away from abusive relationships. Delivered by an experienced welfare rights advice worker, individuals will receive support on entitlements for benefits, debt management, housing and homelessness, immigration, and financial inclusion. With this project, people will have better living conditions which enable them to live safer independent lives.
Portland Gets Fit 18 Jan 2017
The funding will be used by a primary school to remove an existing trim trail in the school grounds which is no longer fit for purpose and replace it with an outdoor play facility. The project aims to improve health and wellbeing and increase provision of play equipment in the local community.
