#iwill fund 23 Jan 2017
The National Lottery and the Department of Culture, Media & Sport are each investing Â£20 million seed funding over four years to create the #iwill fund. Sport England is acting as a match funder and awarding grants on behalf of the #iwill fund. #iwill is a UK-wide campaign aiming to get 6 out of 10 young people involved in social action by 2020.

This group will expand their project which empowers young people aged 8 to 24 to be drivers of social change in their community. Young people will be supported in organising consultations which will inform a variety of activities they will organise to benefit others and the wider community. They will organise educational workshops in local schools, community centres, and youth agencies. Topics will include mental health, drugs and alcohol, bullying, relationships, body image, knife crime and online safety.

HelpForce, an organisation using the power of volunteering to improve the health and wellbeing of people across the UK, will use this funding to expand and improve volunteering services across the UK. The initiative, which is co-designed by NHS Trusts and volunteers, brings the skills and experience of volunteers from the local community into hospitals, to help make a difference to a patient’s experience.

This project will develop and improve the reach of the group's programme supporting young people from underrepresented groups to enter careers in science, technology, engineering and maths.
The funding will be used to provide support to lone parents who have complex barriers to participation in the labour market and who may have difficulty engaging with â€˜mainstreamâ€™ service provision. The project aims to reduce the number of lone parents across Essex, Thurrock, and Southend-on-Sea who are not in employment or accessing education opportunities by increasing their readiness to participate in the labour market.
The funding will be used to support lone parents who are unemployed and will provide intensive and on-going practical support to enable their progress into education, training, volunteering or employment. The project will work closely with housing associations, domestic violence services, substance misuse services and others to build referrals and signpost participants who have a specific need.

This group will continue and develop a project which aims to improve the health and wellbeing of people with learning disabilities by enabling them to become more active in the community, better manage their physical and emotional health and reduce social isolation. The project will outreach into Islington with a joint strategic approach to public health and wellbeing. The group will increase the number of activities, workshops and travel around London to increase people's social links.
This project will deliver a programme of engagement activities that will support young people from the Kosovo community who are at risk of the effects of anti-social behaviour, helping to bring the community together.
