This project is Saturday morning workshops for families to learn about healthy lifestyles, IT, anger management and conflict resolution. This will provide positive activities to bring the community together to learn, address social issues and to improve their health and wellbeing.
Building Blocks to Resilience 10 Mar 2017
The project will continue some of its existing activity with the addition of a new strand of funding focussed on the development of mental good health, an important need in the community. The group will deliver a preventative programme of support, guidance, awareness-raising and social activities. Sessions and events will also be offered to support people of all ages and backgrounds with learning difficulties, helping them to develop the motivation and confidence to be more productive and live better.

The group will purchase a range of camping equipment, to include tents and lighting, for the use of scouts, beavers, brownies and guides. This will enable participation in positive, structured activities.

The school will deliver morning and lunchtime dance and fitness sessions for pupils. This will encourage participation in physical activities before and beyond the school day, with the aim of reducing childhood obesity.

The group will furnish their new drop in centre for cancer patients and their families. This will provide a suitable venue for counselling, advice and therapies, with the aim of reducing isolation and promoting wellbeing.

The project aims to improve the lives of family members living in an abusive environment. This will be done through supporting individuals to move towards a safer life, free from fear and abuse. The unique approach will work with the whole family where they will learn how to deal with the emotional impact of abusive relationships, break the cycle of destructive and harmful behaviour, whilst tackling the root cause of the issue. There will be a variety of support services available.
Giving Back 20 Sep 2017
The group will train volunteers to be able to support families with children, to help parents develop coping strategies, identify sources of additional support and build positive relationships with schools. They will work to address the impact of challenging life issues such as bereavement, mental ill-health, addiction and domestic abuse. Volunteers will be supported to find employment in childcare, social work, youth work or education sectors.
