Building Blocks to Resilience 10 Mar 2017

The project will continue some of its existing activity with the addition of a new strand of funding focussed on the development of mental good health, an important need in the community. The group will deliver a preventative programme of support, guidance, awareness-raising and social activities. Sessions and events will also be offered to support people of all ages and backgrounds with learning difficulties, helping them to develop the motivation and confidence to be more productive and live better.

The project aims to improve the lives of family members living in an abusive environment. This will be done through supporting individuals to move towards a safer life, free from fear and abuse. The unique approach will work with the whole family where they will learn how to deal with the emotional impact of abusive relationships, break the cycle of destructive and harmful behaviour, whilst tackling the root cause of the issue. There will be a variety of support services available.

The group will train volunteers to be able to support families with children, to help parents develop coping strategies, identify sources of additional support and build positive relationships with schools. Volunteers will be supported to find employment in childcare, social work, youth work or education sectors.
