A project to produce a newsletter raising awareness of dementia for the benefit of people with dementia and their carers living in Walsall. The grant will pay for a colour laser printer, printer stand, CD rewriter and digital camera.
Service Development within Rotherham Borough. 07 Sep 2004
The organisation provides information about services for people with dementia and their carers and also supports them in influencing future service delivery. The project will enable better co-ordination of this work. The two year grant will contribute to staff costs for a full time Co-ordinator.
The group provides information, guidance, practical and emotional support to people with dementia, their families and carers in order to improve quality of life. They will use the award to run a weekly information programme for carers and families of people with dementia. The course will develop longer term support groups which will meet monthly. The money will pay for room hire; speakers expenses; stationery and telephone costs; transport costs; cost of facilitators; support materials and refreshments.
The Alzheimer's Society is the leading care and research charity for people with alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. The branch provides support for families and offers information and advice on a range of issues connected to the disease. The project will enable the group to provide a range of support services to people with all degrees of dementia and their family carers.
Developing Carer Support Work Project 10 May 2005
The project will enable the continuation and development of Carer Support work, improving the quality of life for carers of people with dementia, particularly those who live in isolated rural areas.
Social activities 22 Apr 2005
Last year this branch organised therapeutic social activities to improve the quality of life for people with Alzheimer's and their carers. The activities were 'singing for the brain' and 'walking for the brain' and the pilots were very successful. An awards for All grant will be used to put on these activities this year, including advertising, room hire and leaders fees.
Training and presentation equipment 04 May 2005
The branch will purchase a variety of presentation equipment so that it can offer a more professional approach when imparting information to interested groups. Presentations can be made more interesting, visual and contain more informationt in a concise way. laptop, projector and table, warranty, training costs, mileage, stationery, telephone and general consumables.
Alzheimer's Society, Salisbury Branch have been awarded a grant to help celebrate the anniversary of the ending of WW2. They will collect memorabilia and personal accounts from people who remember the war and will present information on a CD Rom for exhibition in schools and day clubs.
The project provides an annual six-month training programme for carers of people with dementia, dealing with issues such as understanding dementia, challenging behaviour, moving and handling skills, communication skills and legal issues. The project will increase the reach of the support groups to include more carers from all areas the branch covers.
To develop products and services for younger people with dementia and their carers, and raise awareness amongst the statutory providers to ensure their needs are understood and catered for. The funding, for one year, will pay for 1 full time Development Worker salary, training costs for staff and beneficiaries, the production of a specialised Information Directory and Training package, equipment and refurbishing costs.
Dales Information Service 17 Aug 2005
This group will use the award to set-up a Dales Information Service to provide information and resources to carers and people with dementia in the isolated dales of Richmondshire. The project will provide training for volunteers and running costs of the service for the first year.
Education and support groups 2005 17 Aug 2005
The Alzheimer's Society will use the award to set up two training programmes and consecutive support groups within the Ryedale and Whitby Branch.

This project will help the local branch of the Alzheimer's Society respond quickly to requests for information about dementia and offer up-to-date information on local services including the support available for people with dementia and their carers._x000B_
The project is to employ a development worker to provide advice and support for people with dementia who are under the age of 65. The two year project will pay for one salary, training, travel and producing information.
