Hadleigh Great War Centenary Project
The Legion's hall is used for a variety of clubs and individuals. As part of an ongoing refurbishment project they will extend and develop the front hall to include disabled toilets and baby-changing facilities.
The Royal British Legion North West Norfolk branch will use their award to hold a range of activities to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the end of the War. These activities will involve a street party, 1940s style Tea Dance, 1940s Big Band Dance, Parade and a Commemorative service.
Parade to the War Memorial 28 Apr 2005
The Clacton-On-Sea Branch of The Royal British Legion would use the grant to assist with the costs of holding a parade to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the end of WW2. This would involve numerous local groups besides the Legion itself, including: Sea Cadets, the Scouts, St John's Ambulance Brigade, Land Army and an array of ex-servicemen and women. This would be supported by a marching band and would provide the centrepiece for the localities commemoration programme.
Recording of Experiences and Memories 28 Apr 2005
The Southminster branch of the Royal British Legion will use their award to record the wartime memories of veterans and local residents. A parade through the village involving veterans and historical vehicles will visit local schools enabling the children to see and talk with the members and the owners of the vehicles.
Stowmarket VE/VJ Day Celebrations 28 Apr 2005
The group will use a grant to organise a day of events to both celebrate and commemorate the 60th Anniversary of VE/VJ Day. This will include a parade and Church service featuring a number of local organisations. This will all be concluded with a large-scale curry lunch for veterans and other attendees.
WW2 Street Party, Themed Dance and Exhibition 08 Jul 2005
The Overstrand and Sidestrand Womens Section of the Royal British Legion will use an award to host a WW2 themed children's street party. This will include an exhibition of wartime memorabilia and photographs and a memorial service at the local church.
Royal British Legion, Colchester Branch have been awarded a grant to enable them to carry out a day of activities aimed at commemorating the 60th Anniversary of VE/VJ Day with entertainment from the era, a full church service and refreshments.

This project is to develop and expand an on-going scheme of work with victims of domestic violence. A programme of support and counselling will be introduced to develop services for sufferers to include parenting skills, individual therapy, communication skills and trauma recovery. Individual therapy will be provided to children experiencing emotional and educational difficulties as a result of domestic violence. A 'parental support package' will be tailored to each family's needs.
The Royal British Legion in Braintree and Bocking plan to send a number of members on a trip of remembrance to the battlefields of Western Europe. The travellers will lay wreaths on behalf of their friends, fathers and grandfathers.

The Royal British Legion will use the award to remember local war veterans by putting on processions, band concerts, performances and a non denominational remembrance ceremony. The group aims to forge closer links between the veterans and the wider community and highlight assistance available for those in need.
