VE Day show 25 Feb 2005
The Trimdon branch of the Royal British Legion have been given an award to allow them to carry out a 60th anniversary 1940's evening. The evening will consists of war time entertainment and decor. They will also use the night to carry out interviews with residents who experienced the war years. These interviews will be video recorded and used when the veterans carry out visits to schools.
War Greaves Pilgrimage 17 Mar 2006
The purpose of this group is to look after the needs of ex service personell and their families. An award will allow the group to visit the site of war graves of family and friends of our president. The visit will be recorded to create an informative historical record for future generations.
Eden Camp Visit 15 Jul 2005
The Newton Aycliffe branch of the Royal British Legion will use their award to visit Eden Camp Second World War museum. The group will also invite local senior citizens to a commemoration concert so that they can relive memories of the time.

Wartime Dinner & Entertainment 27 May 2005
The Seaham branch of the Royal British Legion will use an award to hold a commemoration dinner to remember the contribution made 60 years ago during WW2 by the town. The group will be inviting various members of the community to attend the event.
Pilgrimage to Normandy 22 Feb 2007
This branch of the Royal British Legion will visit Normandy to see the site of the landing of the Durham Light Infantry. Both veterans and cadets will visit the site.
Battlefields Visit Dunkirk 15 Jan 2009
This branch of the Royal British Legion will use a grant to plan a trip with local Sea Cadets to the site of the Royal Navy evacuation of thousands of troops from the beeches of Dunkirk. Professional guides will inform the members and cadets of the historical site and on their return the cadets will then inform other cadets and schools of their experience by showing a DVD recording of their visit.
