Interpreting World War 1 through Commemoratives
The project is to set up craft/social clubs for older people. The money is for hire of meeting rooms, materials and travel costs for outings.
The project is to recruit volunteers over the age of 50yrs and place them in schools alongside children wh0 need help in developing their basic numeracy and literacy skills. The project will empower older people to engage in local community activity. The grant over three years will partly fund one full time and one part time Schools Project Co-ordinator post, training and travel for staff and volunteers, office equipment, rent and general running expenses.

The Royal British Legion Gwent County Committee have been awarded a grant to hold a Drumhead Service of Thanksgiving to mark the 60th anniversary of the cessation of hostilities of World War Two. The event will be attended by many ex-services and veterans groups and will cover five county authorities in Wales.

This project will address the needs of three groups of older people. Ones facing transition periods who will act as volunteers thus addressing their own social isolation, those socially isolated but able to attend activities ouside the home and those who are frail and housebound. Activities will be centred on residential homes but not exclusive to residents. Volunteers will be used as befrienders and activity organisers.

This project will enable people over 50 to address issues of loneliness. The project will be delivered in three strands addressing the needs of younger beneficiaries by encouraging volunteering to delay the effects of aging, those isolated or in care who can leave their homes to attend activity 'hubs' and those who through age or infirmity are housebound and will need one to one volunteer support to follow their interests.

Volunteering Matters will use the grant to support younger people with disabilities in Blaenau Gwent by providing them with skills and empowering them during the transition from education to further education, employment or training. This grant for Â£5,000 will fund volunteer expenses, mentor training, stationery and telephone costs, promotional materials, evaluation, and administration support.
Parade, Service and Two Hour Concert 22 Jul 2005
A project to mark the 60th anniversary of the end of WW2 with the provision of a parade, open air service and concert for the benefit of members of this group and the wider community of Buckley, Flintshire.
Royal British Legion Women's Section will arrange a visit to the National Arboretum and the RAF museum, Cosford for a group of armed forces and women's land army veterans and their partners. This will enable them to keep alive the memory of their comrades who died in the service of their country and encourage the spirit of comradeship amongst the members and meets the Awards for All aim of 'improving the quality of life'. This grant for £5,000 will fund the cost of travel and accommodation.

The project will provide a localised model of volunteer support to carers and their cared for by recruiting teams of older volunteers within a limited geographical radius of small communities in Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion to provide affordable transport and other types of household support.
Sex Matters 25 May 2010
Sex Matters aims to improve the sexual health and well-being of young people aged 14 - 25 living in disadvantaged areas of Gwent. Working with Gwent NHS Trust 150 young people will be recruited and trained as Sex Matters volunteers. After receiving relevant training the volunteers will set-up and deliver 288 Sex Matters workshops over 3 years.
